Sum 41's was one of the new wave of punk-pop bands that made a big splash in the early 2000's. Founded on a mighty guitar section and a manic rhythm section, the Canadian team succeeded on staking out their own rock & roll territory. Made up of members of several punk outfits, Derick Whibley (guitar, vocals), Dave Baksh (guitar, vocals), Cone McCaslin (bass), and drummer Steve Jocz became the quartet responsible for the Ontario unit's intrepid creations. In 1999 they signed a deal with Island Records and delivered their first EP, Half Hour of Power in 2000. The band then hit the road, playing on the same stage as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Offspring and Blink 182, constantly getting significant acclaim.
